Frázové slovesá a idiómy - Úvod
Predstav si, že sa učíš anglicky a myslíš si, že "look for" znamená "vyzerať pre". Ale v skutočnosti to znamená "hľadať"! Práve o tom sú frázové slovesá a idiómy - o spojeniach slov, ktoré majú úplne iný význam, než by si očakával.
Frázové slovesá vzniknú, keď k bežnému slovesu pridáš predložku alebo príslovku. Napríklad "look" + "for" = "hľadať". Idiómy zase sú celé frázy s prenesným významom, ako "it's raining cats and dogs" (prší ako z krhly).
Tip: Nikdy si nespoliehaj na doslovný preklad! To je najčastejšia chyba študentov.
Ak ich neovládaš, budeš sa cítiť stratený pri sledovaní seriálov alebo pri čítaní textov. Ale neboj sa - sú to len vzorce, ktoré sa dajú naučiť!
Frázové slovesá - Ako fungujú
Každé frázové sloveso má svoju časticu - to je tá predložka alebo príslovka, ktorá mení význam. Najčastejšie sú to: up, down, on, off, out, in.
Existujú dva typy frázových slovies. Oddeliteľné ti dovolia dať objekt medzi sloveso a časticu: "turn on the TV" alebo "turn the TV on". Neoddeliteľné chcú objekt vždy za časticou: "look for my keys" (nie "look my keys for").
Pozor: Ak používaš zámeno (it, them), pri oddeliteľných musí ísť VŽDY medzi sloveso a časticu: "turn it on" (nie "turn on it").
Častica "up" často znamená dokončenie (wake up), "down" zníženie (sit down), "on" zapnutie (turn on), "off" vypnutie (turn off). Ale pozor - jeden frázový sloveso môže mať viacero významov!
Idiómy - Tajné kódy angličtiny
Idiómy sú ako tajné hesla - ak ich nepoznáš, nevieš, o čom sa bavíme. "Break a leg" neznamená "zlom si nohu", ale "veľa šťastia"! "A piece of cake" nie je kúsok torty, ale niečo veľmi ľahké.
Tieto frázy majú pevnú formu - nemôžeš meniť slová ani ich poradie. Sú kultúrne špecifické, takže odrážajú históriu a tradície anglicky hovoriacich krajín.
Fakt: Idiómy sa používajú každý deň - bez nich nebudeš znieť prirodzeno!
Najčastejšie idiómy, ktoré musíš vedieť: "hit the books" (učiť sa), "feel under the weather" (cítiť sa zle), "spill the beans" (vykecať tajomstvo). Uč sa ich s príkladmi a v kontexte!
Praktické príklady a použitie
Pri frázových slovesách si všímaj typ - "put on your jacket" môže byť aj "put your jacket on", ale "look for it" musí zostať takto. "Give up" bez objektu znamená "vzdať sa".
S idiómami si predstav situácie. "It's raining cats and dogs" povieš, keď vonku leje. "The test was a piece of cake" znamená, že bol super ľahký. "Break a leg!" povieš kamarátovi pred vystúpením.
Tip na učenie: Používaj flashcards - na jednu stranu napíš frázové sloveso, na druhú význam a vetu!
Kontext je najdôležitejší! To isté frázové sloveso môže mať rôzne významy. "Take off" môže byť "vzlietnuť", "vyzliecť si" alebo "vziať si voľno". Vždy si over v slovníku!
Zhrnutie pre skúšku
Pre úspech na skúške si zapamätaj: Frázové slovesá = sloveso + častica s novým významom. Idiómy = fráza s prenesným významom. Nikdy neprekladaj doslovne!
