アメリカ独立革命の基本
君たちが今使っているスマホにも税金がかかってるよね？でも、もしその税金を決める政治家を選ぶ権利がなかったらどう思う？これがまさにアメリカ独立革命の始まりなんだ。
植民地とは、本国から移住した人々が作った土地で、親元の国（本国）に支配されている地域のこと。北アメリカ東海岸には13の植民地があった。イギリス人たちが宗教の自由や新しい生活を求めて移住し、それぞれの議会を持って自治を行っていたんだ。
**「代表なくして課税なし」**は絶対に覚えておこう！植民地の人々はイギリス議会に代表を送っていないのに、一方的に税金をかけられるのは不当だという主張だよ。これが独立運動の重要なスローガンになった。
💡 覚えるコツ: 代表なくして課税なし = 自分たちの意見を聞かずに勝手に税金を決めるな！という意味だよ。
革命の原因と主な出来事
フレンチ・インディアン戦争でフランスに勝ったイギリスだけど、戦争費用で財政がピンチに！そこで植民地から税金を取ろうと考えたんだ。印紙法（新聞や証書に印紙を貼る税金）や茶法（茶の独占販売権をイギリス会社に与える法律）を次々と制定した。
ボストン茶会事件（1773年）では、怒った植民地の人々がインディアンに変装してイギリス船を襲撃！積荷の茶箱をすべて海に投げ捨てちゃった。この事件でイギリスは激怒し、ボストン港を閉鎖するなどさらに厳しい弾圧を始めた。
1775年のレキシントン・コンコードの戦いで、ついにイギリス軍と植民地民兵が武力衝突。これが独立戦争の始まりとなった。各植民地の代表は大陸会議を開き、ワシントンを総司令官に任命したよ。

独立宣言と戦争の展開
1776年7月4日、大陸会議は独立宣言を発表した。トマス・ジェファソンが中心となって起草し、「生命、自由、幸福の追求」といった基本的人権がうたわれている。これはロックなどの啓蒙思想の影響を強く受けているんだ。
当初、装備で劣る植民地軍は苦戦していた。でもイギリスとライバル関係にあったフランスが、アメリカ側を支援するために参戦！これが戦局を大きく変えた。フランスの支援がなかったら、独立は実現できなかったかもしれないよ。
1783年のヨークタウンの戦いで、アメリカ・フランス連合軍がイギリス軍に決定的勝利！パリ条約が結ばれ、イギリスはアメリカの独立を正式に承認した。
💡 混同注意: 独立宣言（1776年）は戦争中の「独立するぞ！」宣言。合衆国憲法（1787年）は戦争後の「国のルール」だよ。
アメリカ合衆国の誕生と歴史的意義
戦争後、各州の代表が集まって合衆国憲法を制定した。この憲法には人民主権（国民が主権者）、連邦制（州と連邦政府の権力分担）、三権分立（権力の集中を防ぐ仕組み）が盛り込まれている。初代大統領には戦争を指導したワシントンが選ばれたよ。
こうして、国王や貴族のいない、国民が主権を持つ近代的な共和国が世界で初めて誕生した！これまでの歴史では、王様や皇帝が国を治めるのが当たり前だったから、これは本当に革命的な出来事だったんだ。
この成功が後のフランス革命に大きな勇気と影響を与えた。アメリカが「普通の人々でも国を作れる」ことを証明したから、ヨーロッパの人々も「俺たちにもできる！」と思うようになったんだよ。
