Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics Overview
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics is part of a global qualification system that's recognised by universities and employers worldwide. You'll be joining nearly a million students from 10,000 schools across 160 countries who take Cambridge qualifications each year.
The course is designed to help you develop mathematical fluency and confidence whilst building essential skills for your future studies and career. Whether you're planning to study maths at A Level or need mathematical skills to support other subjects, this qualification provides a solid foundation.
Did you know? Cambridge IGCSEs are benchmarked as equivalent to UK GCSEs, so your qualification will be recognised by top universities around the world.
Course Structure and Assessment
The course covers nine key topics: Number, Algebra and graphs, Coordinate geometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Transformations and vectors, Probability, and Statistics. You'll study all of these areas regardless of which tier you're entered for.
Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics uses a tiered system to help you achieve your best possible grade. The Core tier targets grades C-G and is perfect if you're aiming for a solid pass, whilst the Extended tier targets grades A*-C for those seeking the highest grades.
All students take two papers - one without a calculator and one with a scientific calculator allowed. Core students sit 1.5-hour papers, while Extended students tackle 2-hour papers with more challenging content.
Top tip: Your teacher will recommend which tier suits your ability and target grade best, so don't worry about choosing the wrong level.
Skills You'll Develop
This course aims to help you develop a positive attitude towards mathematics and build confidence in your problem-solving abilities. You'll learn to apply mathematical knowledge to real-life situations and develop logical reasoning skills that are valuable across many subjects.
The assessment objectives focus on two main areas. First, you'll master mathematical techniques, including calculations, using mathematical notation, working with graphs and diagrams, and measuring accurately. Second, you'll develop analytical skills to solve complex problems and communicate your methods clearly.
You'll also learn to make connections between different areas of mathematics, recognise patterns, and present your solutions in clear, logical ways. These skills are exactly what universities and employers are looking for.

This apps acc the goat. I find revision so boring but this app makes it so easy to organize it all and then you can ask the freeeee ai to test yourself so good and you can easily upload your own stuff. highly recommend as someone taking mocks now
