French Speaking Exam Essentials
Question words are your best friends in French conversations! Master these basics: à quelle heure (at what time), combien de howmany/much, où (where), quand (when), and qu'est-ce que (what). You'll also need quel (which), comment (how), pourquoi (why), and qui (who).
When describing what people are doing, use present continuous phrases like ils/elles sont en train de... (they are in the process of). Combine this with action verbs: joue (playing), boit (drinking), and mange (eating). These help you sound natural when talking about photos or situations.
Weather and emotions pop up constantly in speaking exams. Use il fait plus weather words like chaud (hot) or froid (cold). For feelings, try amusant (fun), content(e) (happy), triste (sad), fatigué(e) (tired), or fâché(e) (angry).
Top Tip: Start every photo description with "Sur la photo" (in the photo) or "Je peux voir" (I can see) to buy yourself thinking time whilst sounding confident!
Essential connectives like c'est (it is), ce sont (they are), and il y a thereis/are will link your ideas smoothly. Don't forget time expressions: c'était (it was), ce sera (it will be), and il/elle a he/shehas.
