Mastering the PRTEZEL Method
The PRTEZEL structure is your best mate for Question 1. Each letter gives you a clear step to follow, making your analysis sharp and focused.
Start with your Point, back it up with a Reference from the poem, then identify the Technique being used. Explain the Effect of that technique before Zooming in on specific words or forms. Analyse the Effect of what you've zoomed in on, then Link it all together with "Therefore..."
Question 2 uses PRTERTEZEZE - basically comparing two poems using the same principles. You'll alternate between poems, comparing their language, structure, and form. This question's worth 8 marks and should take 10 minutes.
Top tip: Practice these structures until they become second nature - you don't want to waste precious exam time trying to remember the sequence.
