Essential Chemistry Calculations Map

Ever wondered how all those chemistry formulas fit together? This diagram is your roadmap to mastering calculations that'll pop up in every chemistry exam.

The number of moles sits at the heart of everything - it connects to mass through relative formula mass (Mr), to gases through the 24 dm³ rule, and to solutions through concentration. Think of moles as chemistry's universal language that translates between different ways of measuring substances.

For concentration calculations, you've got two paths: mol/dm³ (which uses moles and volume) or g/dm³ (which uses mass and volume). Both are equally important, and you'll often need to convert between them using the relative formula mass.

The yield calculations show how efficient chemical reactions are in real life. Percentage yield compares what you actually get versus what you theoretically should get, whilst atom economy tells you how much of your starting materials end up in your desired product rather than waste.

Quick tip: Always check if your percentage calculations need multiplying by 100 - it's the most common mistake that costs marks in exams!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
