Animal and Plant Cells
You might think animal and plant cells are completely different, but they actually share quite a bit in common! Both types have three essential parts that keep them alive and functioning.
Animal cells contain a cell membrane (which acts like a bouncer, controlling what gets in and out), cytoplasm , and a nucleus (the control centre containing DNA that tells the cell what to do).
Plant cells have all the same parts as animal cells, but they've got three extra features that make them special. They have a tough cell wall made of cellulose that gives them structure and support, a large vacuole that stores cell sap, and chloroplasts (found in green parts) where photosynthesis happens.
Quick Tip: Remember that plant cells are like animal cells with extra gear - they need the cell wall for support since they can't move around like animals, and chloroplasts to make their own food through photosynthesis!

Second, they can differentiate (transform) into specialised cells like skin cells, muscle cells, or blood cells when your body needs repairs or growth.
Embryonic stem cells are the ultimate all-rounders found in very early embryos. These amazing cells can turn into literally any type of cell in the entire body - from brain neurons to heart muscle to red blood cells. Every animal, including humans, starts life as a small bundle of these powerful embryonic stem cells.
