all you need to know to calculate moles is the mole equation which is: number of moles= mass/molar mass. mass is measured in grams and you will probably have to calculate the molar mass as well. Molar mass is technically the atomic mass of the atom/ion but you have to consider how many of each element are in it. For example if I said H20, you would have to go to the periodic table (Hydrogen’s atomic mass is 1 and Oxygen’s is 16). But there are 2 hydrogen in the atom so you would have to add 16+(1x2). So the molar mass of H20 would be 18. If the question then stated that you had 20 grams of H20 to 3sf, work out the number of moles, you would use the equation: n= number of moles and mr= molar mass, m= mass n=m/mr n=20/18 then use a calculator and you would get =1.11 moles hope this helped x
