since f(X)=0 you can substitute that into the equation given. So: 0= x^3+ 7x^2+px-6 You already figured out what p is so substitute that value into the equation and you should end up with a cubic equation. Solve the equation by using your calculator and it should give you 3 solutions, one of them being X=-3 (as it was given in the question)
