# Appealing a moderation decision

> If your upload was rejected or your account restricted, you can appeal once in the app or through the appeal form on our website.

## My upload was rejected

Open the upload. The rejection reason is shown with it. You can:

- **Edit and resubmit** it if the problem can be fixed, for example a missing source or personal data in a photo.
- **Appeal** once if you think the decision was wrong. Tap **Appeal** on the upload and explain why.

Uploads rejected permanently, for example copyrighted textbook pages, cannot be appealed.

## My account was restricted or banned

Restrictions follow repeated or serious violations of our community guidelines. You will have received a notice explaining the measure.

To appeal, open the [moderation appeal form](https://knowunity.com/moderation-measure-appeal) on our website and fill in your username, the measure and your reasons. We review every appeal under the EU Digital Services Act and reply by email.

## Comments or messages removed

Removed comments and messages cannot be restored. If you believe the removal was a mistake, use the appeal form above.
