# How do I add or reuse files in AI chat?

> Use the attachment button to add photos or files. Some accounts also have Recent files or can read supported public file links.

Attach the material you want Knowie to use, then ask your question in AI chat.

## Add a file or photo

1. Open the attachment or tools button beside the chat input.
2. Choose the photo, camera or file option shown.
3. Select your material, check the attachments and send your question.

Some students see a redesigned tools panel with **Recent files**. Other accounts keep their usual panel. This is being tested. You cannot opt in or out, and support cannot switch it on.

## Reuse recent material

If **Recent files** appears, open it and select material you used before. It can include files from chats and Classes. Select the files you need and add them to your message.

Reusing a file does not mean your upload allowance is unlimited. Follow the limit shown; see *Limits for photos, files and messages in the AI chat*.

## A photo is missing

On iPhone, the gallery preview depends on the photo access you allowed. If you allowed only selected photos, choose more photos or use **Go to settings** to change access. On Android, use the photo option to open the system picker.

If a local file is no longer available, choose it again from your device.

## Can I paste a file link?

Some accounts can read supported public file links sent in a message. Others cannot, and a link may fail even when the feature is available. This is being tested; you cannot opt in or out, and support cannot change it.

If the chat cannot read a link, upload the file directly instead. Do not assume a reply means the linked file was read.
